Well-Travelled Utah Squirrel Covers 3000 Miles

IF HE COULD TALK....A UTAH SQUIRREL WOULD HAVE A WILD TALE TO TELL...AFTER MAKING A 3-THOUSAND MILE ROUND TRIP JOURNEY, FROM OUR STATE -- TO MADISON, WISCONSIN -- AND BACK.

THE TREK BEGAN, WHEN A TRUCK DRIVER THOUGHT THE ANIMAL WOULD MAKE A NICE PET...SO HE LURED THE SQUIRREL INTO A TRAP -- AT A REST STOP, ON THE UTAH-WYOMING BORDER -- AND HAULED HIM TO WISCONSIN.

BUT NORTHERN UTAH WILDLIFE REHAB CENTER OFFICIALS SAYS, THE WISCONSIN FAMILY SOON DISCOVERED, THAT WASN'T A GREAT IDEA.

BUT RATHER THAN SIMPLY FREEING THE SQUIRREL, IN WISCONSIN, THE FAMILY INSTEAD DROPPED IT OFF AT A HUMANE SOCIETY THERE.

THEN A VOLUNTEER AGREED TO DRIVE THE WELL-TRAVELLED RODENT BACK TO UTAH, WHERE THE WILDLIFE REHAB CENTER IS NOW CARING FOR IT.
