Trench Digger -- Buried Up to His Shoulders for Ninety Minutes -- Suffers Only Minor Injuries

A 41-YEAR-OLD MAN -- WHO WAS DIGGING A SEWER LINE TRENCH, OUTSIDE A LEHI HOME TUESDAY MORNING -- IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE, AFTER DIRT CAVED IN ON HIM...BURYING HIM UP TO HIS SHOULDERS.

FIRE BATALLION CHIEF RICK HOWARD SAYS THE MAN WAS STUCK IN THE DIRT ABOUT AN HOUR-AND-A-HALF, OUTSIDE A HOME NEAR 24TH NORTH, NINTH WEST IN LEHI.

ABOUT THIRTY EMERGENCY RESPONDERS ASSISTED WITH THE RESCUE -- FROM PROVO, OREM, SPANISH FORK, AND ELSEWHERE.

THE MAN WAS AIR LIFTED TO UTAH VALLEY REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER...THOUGH HE WAS NOT COMPLAINING OF ANY SERIOUS INJURIES.

THE CAVE-IN OCCURRED ABOUT 9:20 TUESDAY MORNING -- AND THE MAN WAS FREED JUST BEFORE 11:00 AM.
