Copper Thieves Cause Major Headaches in West Jordan

WEST JORDAN POLICE ARE CONTINUING THEIR SEARCH TUESDAY, FOR COPPER THIEVES WHO NOT ONLY MADE OFF WITH TWO HUNDRED FEET OF WIRE... BUT ALSO FORCED POWER TO BE TURNED OFF -- AT NEARLY A THOUSAND HOMES -- WHILE REPAIRS WERE MADE.

JEFF HYMAS, WITH ROCKY MOUNTAIN POWER, SAYS THE THEFT OCCURRED AT A SUBSTATION, NEAR 74TH SOUTH, 11TH WEST.

POLICE SAY THE THIEVES ACCESSED THE SUBSTATION, FROM THE NEARBY JORDAN RIVER PARKWAY...AND CUT A FENCE TO GET IN.

SINCE THERE'S NO SURVEILLANCE VIDEO OF THE CRIME, AUTHORITIES HOPE SOMEONE WITNESSED IT... AND WILL CALL IN.
