Pink Slips Coming for Some Granite School District Employees

A $500,000 budget shortfall -- in a nearly $450-million budget -- has prompted the Granite School District to lay people off.

District officials have not yet determined how many administrative jobs will be eliminated.  Teaching positions are not threatened.

The job reductions mean the school board will not have to seek a property tax increase.

The Granite District serves about 67,000 students.
