License Plate Supporting Autistic Children in Danger of Going Away

State lawmakers may have recently killed a key fundraising program, for the Utah Autism Council.

Earlier this year the legislature voted to stop producing customized state license plates that sell fewer than 500 per year.

Autism Council officials say they've sold about the same number for several years -- but it's well below 500.

The money raised goes back into the community.

With 275 sold this fiscal year, the council must now sell another 225 before the end of June, to avoid being eliminated.
